LIVE STREAMING: SUARA PENYANDANG DISABILITAS DAN PARTISIPASI POLITIK PADA PEMILU 2024
Abstrak
A distinctive feature of a democratic country is the holding of general elections (General Election) which will elect the presidential election, governors and regents along with their representatives, as well as elect the DPR from the central and regional levels. The implementation of elections in Indonesia is held every five years, based on direct, general, free, secret, honest and fair, which has been stipulated in article 22E of the 1945 Constitution, then regarding the right to vote which must be protected and recognized its existence is contained in Article 27 article 28E of the NRI Constitution.
Citizens with disabilities and disabilities have the right to vote or political rights in elections, this is supported by Article 43 of Law Number 39 of 1999 concerning Human Rights, Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities, and technical provisions stipulated in Law No. 7 of 2017 Chapter IV Article 198 concerning the right to vote in elections.
Persons with disabilities are everyone who experiences physical, intellectual, mental, and/or sensory limitations for a long period of time in interacting with the environment. Of all the existing regulations, both at the constitutional level and sectoral laws regarding political rights, none of the provisions are discriminatory.
Fulfillment of political rights of persons with disabilities by involving them in political education activities in the form of counseling in the form of Live Streaming through Lintas Kediri Sore Ini: Cerita Kata dengan tema Suara Disabilitas dalam Pemilu 2024, organized by RRI Kediri, on Monday, May 08, 2023 at 15.00 until 16.15. The result achieved is that people with disabilities will know their voting rights and obligations so that they can participate in elections to choose leaders and representatives of the people in accordance with their expectations.
